Respected addictionologist, Dr Lochan Naidoo, is to play a prominent role in the
International Psychosocial Convention to be held in South Africa next year.
Naidoo has been asked to serve on the Convention’s Local Organising
Committee (LOC) which will be responsible for ensuring that all local aspects of
the event are taken care of, ahead of the gathering in 2019. With almost three
decades in the field of addictionology – specialising in the diagnosis, study, and
treatment of dependence - his expertise is invaluable. He will be joined on the
LOC by friend and colleague, Professor Solly Rateamane who is HOD:
Psychiatry at the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University and the Dr
George Mukhari Academic Hospital. Dr Naidoo heads up the Jullo Centre in
Merebank which is renowned for its integrated treatment offerings where every
aspect of the patient is dealt with to ensure successful outcomes. Jullo has an
inpatient detox and specialist rehab unit which uses the world’s only integrated
rehab software to provide positive outcomes. A native of Durban, Naidoo did his
initial medical training at the University of Natal and eventually went on to serve
on several high level international bodies.
